Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 23, 2026

PowderTracks is built local-first. Your skiing and snowboarding data lives on your device, and you can use the whole free app without an account. We don't run ads, we don't use analytics or trackers, and we never sell your data.

The short version: tracking data stays on your phone. If — and only if — you buy premium and create an account, we store three things on our servers: your email, a record that you paid, and (if you turn on backup) an encrypted copy of your runs. That's the entire list.

Data that stays on your device

Everything PowderTracks records while you ski is stored locally on your phone and is never sent to us:

  • GPS location while tracking — coordinates, altitude, speed, distance, and vertical
  • Your runs, sessions, and full history, including map traces
  • Files you import (GPX or Ski Tracks .skiz)

You don't need an account to track, review your history, or import and export your data. This information only leaves your device if you choose to export it, share it, upload it to Strava, or turn on cloud backup.

Data we store when you buy premium

Premium features (like cloud backup and sync) need an account. When you create one, this is the complete list of what we hold on our servers:

  • Your email address — handled by our authentication provider, Supabase, so you can sign in and recover your account.
  • An entitlement record — a note that your Google account purchased premium, so your unlock works across devices.
  • An encrypted backup file — only if you enable cloud backup. It contains your run data, encrypted, and is stored in Backblaze B2 object storage under a key derived from your account ID.

That is the entire server-side inventory. We do not store your name, your location history, your contacts, or your device identifiers.

Strava

Strava is optional. If you connect your Strava account, PowderTracks uploads only the sessions you explicitly choose to send. We don't pull anything back from Strava beyond what's needed to complete the connection, and you can disconnect at any time. Once a run is on Strava, it's governed by Strava's own privacy policy.

Health Connect (heart rate & calories)

On Android, PowderTracks can read heart rate and calorie data through Health Connect to show your effort for a run. This data is used only to display your stats and stays on your device. It is never transmitted to our servers, never shared with third parties, and never used for advertising. You control Health Connect access at any time in your device settings.

Payments

Purchases happen in-app through Google Play. Google processes the payment — we never see or store your card or billing details. We only receive confirmation that a purchase was made, which becomes your entitlement record.

What we don't do

  • No ads and no ad networks
  • No analytics or tracking SDKs, in the app or on this website
  • No cookies on this website
  • No selling, renting, or sharing of your data with data brokers

Deleting your data

You're always in control:

  • Delete your account (in the app) and we remove your entitlement record and your encrypted backup file from our servers.
  • Delete local data by clearing it in the app or uninstalling PowderTracks. Export it first if you want to keep a copy.

Children

PowderTracks is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change, we'll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, note it in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised policy.
